Guide & FAQ
From signing in to the first line on the chart. Everything here describes how the site actually behaves today.
Getting started
Sign in with Discord
No sign-up form and no password. Discord is the only way in, and Vitals never stores your email address. Player search, the map rotation and the season pages all work without signing in at all.
Add your EA ID
Find your own account from the search on the Settings tab and add it. You can add more than one; the limit is shown on that screen. From the moment you add it, the server starts recording that account.
Let the server do the rest
History keeps accumulating while the page is closed. The chart switches between Recent, One day, Season and All time, and it can draw several accounts and the Predator border on one set of axes.
Finding your EA ID
Search takes the login ID, not the name shown in game. Match it exactly, capitals and punctuation included.
- PC
- The EA ID on your EA account. Accounts played on PC are searched by this ID.
- PlayStation
- The PSN online ID. That is the search key for an account played on PlayStation.
- Xbox
- The Xbox gamertag. That is the search key for an account played on Xbox.
Search by a console-specific ID and you get that platform's rank only. To follow the same person's PC record, search their PC EA ID instead.
A player Vitals already records can be found by part of their current or a previous name. A player nobody has added yet turns up only on an exact match of the login ID.
How recording works
Vitals polls for ranks on the server, whether or not you have the page open. Both how soon a match shows up and how many points land on the chart follow from that interval.
- Accounts that moved in the last hour
- About every 3 minutes — the cadence you get while you are playing matches.
- Every other account
- About every 15 minutes.
- While RP is not moving
- An identical reading is not written. About every 15 minutes one point is still recorded to show the account was observed, so a line never breaks.
Sparse points across a flat stretch are not gaps in the recording — they are the readings that were identical and therefore not written twice.
Frequently asked questions
- The player was found, but the chart is empty
- History starts at the moment the account was added to Vitals — by you, or by anyone who favourited it. There is no reaching back before that. Right after adding one there is not a single point yet, so give it a few minutes for the first reading.
- How long before a match I played shows up?
- About 3 minutes for an account that moved within the last hour, about 15 minutes otherwise. As long as you keep playing you stay on the shorter interval.
- Older history seems to have fewer points
- It does. The last two days are kept exactly as polled; older readings in the running split are thinned to one point an hour, and finished splits to one a day. Every reading where RP actually moved survives, so neither the shape of the line nor the range it covers changes. There is no retention setting on the history itself — what ages out is resolution, never days.
- Can I follow other people's ranks?
- Search on the Players tab and favourite someone, and recording starts from that moment. Only publicly available rank information is involved. If you want your own account's recording stopped, get in touch through the address below.
- What needs an account?
- Player search and rank charts, the map rotation, and the season schedule and write-ups all work signed out. Adding your own account, groups and the My rank tab need a sign-in. Signed-out browsing has a short-window rate limit.
- I want to stop tracking or delete my data
- Unlink an EA ID from Settings and remove a favourite from the Players tab, at any time. To delete the account itself and the data stored with it, contact the address given in the privacy policy.
- Can other people see my record?
- Game account identifiers, player names and rank history are searchable and viewable by anyone, as data drawn from what the game makes public. Your Discord account details, your display name on Vitals, and your friend and group relationships are never shown to other users.
- Where does the rank data come from?
- The public API of Apex Legends Status. Vitals is an unofficial service, unaffiliated with EA and Respawn, and while that upstream is down the record has a gap.
